The practical part

A solid, level surface — decking, paving or compacted gravel. Allow at least 2.5 × 2.5m of floor space. We don't do ground preparation ourselves, so you'll need a third party for that. Talk to us early if you're unsure about the space.

A dedicated 40-amp breaker on 6mm cable, run straight from your DB board for the heater, plus a standard three-prong outdoor socket for the lights. You'll need an electrician to install the breaker and to be there on installation day to connect the heater.

Wood fired gives you the ritual — the fire, the smell, the softer heat — and needs no electrical supply for the heater. Electric heats faster and holds temperature precisely. Both use Harvia heaters.

A Harvia heater and sauna rocks, under-seat lighting, a removable canvas roof cover, thermometer, sand timer, bucket and ladle, movable backrests and sauna hats. Porches, windows, extra backrests and a bitumen roof kit are optional.

The thermally treated Nordic Pine has an expected outdoor service life of 30 years untreated. It will silver in the sun; treating the outside with OSMO 420 slows that down.

The 2–4 person barrel is 1.58m long; the 4–6 person barrel and both Cube models are 2.1m. All are 2m wide and around 2m high. Full dimensions are on each sauna's page and in the catalogue.

Yes, for the 2–4 person barrel, in the Western Cape only. R6 950 per month on a minimum six-month contract, plus a R6 500 once-off set-up and collection fee within 80 km of Somerset West. Electrical work and ground preparation are for your account. It isn't a rent-to-own arrangement.

Each sauna is built to order, so allow several weeks from confirmation to installation. We'll give you a firm timeline when you order. Get your ground preparation and cabling done as early as possible.

Warm water only inside, no chemicals. Treat the exterior with OSMO 420 periodically, go easy on water over the heater, and leave the door open to dry out after use. There's more detail on the Our Saunas page.
